CYRIL REGAMEY
drums

Percussionist, jazz drummer, multi-instrumentalist and composer, Cyril Regamey is one of today’s most eclectic and fascinating artists.  As a young prodigy, he was quickly spotted by several renowned drummers in Switzerland who encouraged him to start an international career.

At the age of twenty-two, he received the First Prize of Virtuosity from The Lausanne Conservatory, and immediately after that, he decided to travel to Asia and Latin America in order to perfect his skills in the fields of ethnic, folk, and traditional music. This exceptional musical journey around the globe gave him the opportunity to quickly become one of today’s most captivating world music specialists. In addition, Cyril Regamey is one of the only jazz artists to pursue simultaneously a career in contemporary music, rock, funk, and soul music.

Hailed across the world as a unique interpreter, Cyril Regamey has collaborated with today’s most prestigious artists, groups, and esnembles, such as Michael Watson, Oscar D’Leon, Ben Monder, Dan Weiss, Geoffrey Oriema, Christophe Schweizer, Bob Mintzer, Nguyen Le, Malcolm Braff, Black Craker, Ahmad Mansour, Blixa Bargeld, Ivan Lins, Louis Sclavis, Marcello Giuliani, IRCAM, Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, The Tchiki Duo, Eklekto, and Ensemble Psophos.

In the past twelve years, Cyril Regamey has been part of the Marc Perrenoud Trio. With this prize-winning group, he has toured the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. He has also collaborated intensely with the renowned Cuban singer and violinist Yilian Cañizares, with whom he has performed in the world’s greatest jazz and world music festivals.  Most recently, Cyril Regamey has founded the Kiku Duo with trumpeter Yannick Barman and together they have been presenting a unique musical repertoire, bringing together jazz, rock, and hip hop.

In addition to his performing career, Cyril Regamey is also a professor of percussion and drums at the Lausanne Conservatory, in the departments of world music, contemporary music, and jazz. He is also a professor at the Pully Music School, where he teaches jazz and blues.

Cyril Regamey main touring engagements these days include performances with the Marc Perrenoud Trio, Kiku Duo, Blixa Bargeld & Black Cracker, Baiju Bhatt & Red Sun, Frank Salis & Michael Watson, as well as with the celebrated jazz pianist Moncef Genoud.
