Born in St.Louis, Missouri, Dave Johnstone is one of today’s most virtuoso and captivating drummers in the fields of jazz, rock and world music. At a very young age, even before become a music student, he starts performing in numerous jazz and blues clubs in the United States, drawing the attention of many celebrated musicians. He then begins his studies at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, which marks the start of an impressive career.

Dave Johnstone has collaborated with numerous renowned artists, in the fields of jazz, rock, pop, country, folk, gospel, and funk, such as  Liza Minnelli, Adriana McPhee, The Dan Band, Eden Espinosa, Cortes Alexander, Allison Janney, The Pussycat Dolls, Lily Tomlin and The Running Jumps. He has also participated in a variety of recordings for the cinema, such as in the film “Juno”, that has won several Oscars. 

In the last few years, Dave Johnstone has performed in the most important jazz and rock festivals in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. Today, he also serves as professor at the Mt. San Antonio College.

In 2015, his album “Nothing But Static” wins the prestigious music award from the Downbeat Magazine in the USA.
