
Founded in 1961 by the legendary choral master Michel Corboz, the Lausanne Vocal Ensemble is one of today’s most acclaimed professional choirs internationally. During more than fifty years, Michael Corboz has conducted the ensemble in the most prestigious concert halls around the world, presenting works that have ranged from early Baroque to contemporary music.
The Lausanne Vocal Ensemble is composed of thirty-six virtuoso singers, all vocal artists of international reputation. The ensemble has given concerts under the greatest conductors of our time, and with renowned orchestras such as L’Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, L’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, L’Orchestre National de Belgique, and L’Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne. Today, the Lausanne Vocal Ensemble is directed by Daniel Reuss and Pierre-Fabien Roubaty, respectively Music and Artistic directors of the group.
In the past few years, the Lausanne Vocal Ensemble has been on tour in numerous countries, such as South Africa, Belgium, Canada, Spain, Germany, Poland, Japan, The Netherlands, Israel, France, Italy, Argentina, Greece, Portugal and England. It has been invited to perform in today’s most important festivals, such the Folle Journée Festival inTokyo, the International Festival of La Roque d’Anthéron, the Aix-en-Provence Opera Festival, the Rheingau Musik Festival, as well as the Gstaad Menuhin Festival.
Monumental, stunning, and remarkable, the discography of the Lausanne Vocal Ensemble contains more than one-hundred-fifteen albums. Its legendary recordings of Mozart’s Requiem, Fauré’s Requiem, and Gounod’s Requiem have all received the prestigious “Choc Classica” award in France. The ensemble’s recordings of the works of Monteverdi, Charpentier, Beethoven, Rossini, Mendelssohn, Mahler, Honegger, and Stravinsky, have also received illustrious prizes, all across the world.
