ANNULATION DU CONCERT PRESTIGE N°2 DU 2 NOVEMBRE 2020

Following the decisions taken by the Swiss Federal Government, it is with tremendous regret and sadness that we have to announce the cancellation of our Prestige Concert No.2, scheduled for 2 November 2020 at 8pm. 

The entire Geneva Camerata team had been working relentlessly and with great devotion in order to maintain this concert, with all the necessary and required sanitary measures. It is therefore a very difficult moment for the orchestra, its musicians, technicians, board, and staff, as well as for all the cultural organisations and artists across Switzerland.

Despite our distress and anguish, we will remain united and strong, and we will continue elaboration spectacular and unforgettable performances, for all of you. We can only hope that live music will be back again, as soon as possible. More than ever, we need to fight in order to keep the arts alive, and therefore please rest assured that we will do all can to re-schedule this concert for the next season.  

REIMBURSEMENT AND SUPPORTING THE ORCHESTRA:

For all the spectators who wish to get reimbursed for their ticket, please send your request to billetterie@genevacamerata.com before 28 November 2020, indicating your name, surname, as well as you bank details. 

All audience members also have the possibility to not ask for a reimbursement, and by doing so, support the orchestra. In this very difficult and uncertain period, we would like to ask for your kind support, and if you wish to help, you can also make a donation or become a Friend of the Geneva Camerata. Every new donation and every new Friend Membership can help us significantly to keep moving forward in a positive way, so that we can continue sharing with all of you extraordinary moments of music, beauty, and magic. 

FANNY ARDANT

Recognised as one of the greatest French actresses of our time, Fanny Ardant has collaborated, throughout her illustrious career, with today’s most celebrated actors and stage director, in France and internationally.

She received her first major role at the age of thirty, in the film “The Woman Next Door”, directed by the legendary François Truffaut, alongside actor Gérard Depardieu. Just a few years later, she collaborated again with Truffaut, performing another lead role, this time in the movie “Finally Sunday!”..Both of these roles have brought her to being nominated at the French Oscars (Césars), despite her young age. Following her early success, she has worked with many other renowned French directors, such as Alain Resnais, Claude Lelouch, Patrice Leconte, Michel Deville, and François Ozon.

After winning several international awards, she became a world-famous actress, and many European and American directors invited her to be part of their movies. She played major roles in movies by Ettore Scola, Volker Schloendorff, Sidney Pollack, Margareth Von Trotta and Paolo Sorrentino. In 2001, the world was stunned and moved by her incredible performance in the role of Maria Callas, in Franco Zeffirelli’s celebrated film “Callas Forever”.

In 1997 she received her first major award in France, when winning a French Oscar as lead actress, for her unforgettable role in Gabriel Aghion’s film “Pédale Douce”.

Alternating between independent films, comedies, and big productions, Fanny Ardant has always amazed fans and critics around the world with her intense, poignant, and authentic approach to acting. In addition to her roles in numerous films, she has been featured in several award-winning theatre plays, directed by celebrated artists such as Francis Huster, Andreas Voutsinas, and Lambert Wilson.

In 2009, she directs her very first movie, “Ashes and Blood”. After the movie is nominated in the Official Competition at the Cannes Film Festival - receiving high praises from the critics - she decides to direct her second film, “Cadences Obstinées”. In 2017, she directs her third picture, “Stalin’s Couch”, with the participation of actor Gérard Depardieu. In 2019, she decides to go even further, when she directs her first opera production, “Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk” by Shostakovich, at the Athens National Opera in Greece. 

This year, Fanny Ardant has receives once again the highest honour in France, when winning her second French Oscar, this time for her role in Nicolas Bedos’s film, “La Belle Époque”.

CLÉMENCE TILQUIN

Thanks to her stunning virtuosity, her sensational voice et her immense repertoire – ranging from early Baroque to contemporary music – Clémence Tilquin is hailed as one of  the most talented sopranos of the young generation. Following her studies in cello and in vocal arts, she begins an outstanding career, all across Europe and Asia.

After winning prestigious awards from the Leenaards Foundation and the Mosetti Foundation, she decides to dedicate her entire career to singing. Shortly after, she becomes a recipient of the City of Geneva Prize and decides to continue her studies in Oslo, London, and Milano.

Very quickly, her exceptional abilities are discovered by celebrated conductors and stage directors, who invite her to perform in today’s greatest festivals and opera houses.

The young soprano has made her debut at the Geneva Opera, singing a variety of roles, such as Love in Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice, the Princesse in Prokofiev’s Love for Three Oranges and Ninetta in Verdi’s Sicilian Vespers. She also made her debut at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie singing the role of Papagena in Mozart’s Magic Flute, in addition to performing at the renowned Aix-en-Provence Festival, as the Princess in Ravel’s L’Enfant et le Sortilège.

Passionate about 20th and 21st century music, Clémence Tilquin has been praised for her interpretations of Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire with the Ensemble Contrechamps on tour, as well as Stravinsky’s Three Japanese Lyrics with the Ensemble Intercontemporain, in Paris. She also collaborated with some of the greatest living composers of our time, such as Wolfgang Rihm and György Kurtàg, whose poignant Poems she has sung in Basel.

​In the past years, Clémence Tilquin has performed under the baton of today’s most important conductors, such as Emmanuel Krivine, Michel Corboz, Michail Jurowski, François-Xavier Roth, Gábor Tákacs, John Nelson and Hans Zender.

Among her latest engagements, she has sung at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, the Versailles Royal Opera, the Palazetto Bru Zane in Venice, the Musiekgebouw in Amsterdam, the Landestheater in Bregenz, and the Prinzregententheater in Munich.

MÉLODIE RUVIO

Admired for her radiant, sensual, and stunning voice, as well as for her incredible virtuosity, Mélodie Ruvio is recognised as one of the most exceptional singers of the young generation.

After receiving her Bachelor degree both in flute and in Spanish, Mélodie Ruvio, started to study vocal arts in Paris. Her talent was quickly acknowledged by her mentors and she was quickly invited to sing her very first roles at the prestigious Ambronay Academy, in France. Following her success, she made her highly anticipated debut at the Opéra-Comique in Paris and at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse, to great critical acclaim.

These first experiences open for her many new doors and she is quickly invited to perform under the greatest conductors of our time, such as William Christie, Marc Minkovski, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Paul Agnew and Roberto Fores Veses.

Praised for her unique interpretations of the Baroque repertoire, she has sung in today’s most prestigious opera houses, performing the roles of Venus in Monteverdi’s Il Ballo delle Ingrate, Cornelia in Händel’s Giulio Cesare, Phèdre in Cavalli’s Egisto, and Junon in Lully’s Le Ballet des Arts.

Thanks to her unusual, profound and warm voice, she has also been frequently invited to sing the great masterpieces of the sacred repertoire, ranging from Vivaldi and Bach, all the way to Mozart, Mendelssohn, and Liszt.  Also passionate about music of our time, Mélodie Ruvio has participated in Michael Jarrell’s opera “Sigfried, a Nocturnal Life”.

Among her recent engagements, Mélodie Ruvio has sung at the Paris National Opera, the Montpellier Opera, the Grand Théâtre de Luxembourg, the Versailles Royal Opera, the Sofia Philharmonie, the Liège Philharmonie, au Barbican Centre in London and the Copenhagen Philharmonie.

VINCENT LIÈVRE-PICARD

Shortly after graduating from the Paris Conservatory, Vincent Lièvre-Picard received his first awards, leading to his debut in several major operas houses across Europe. Described by the press as “radiant, elegant and enchanting”, his unique tenor voice has also been acclaimed by audiences, who have frequently hailed his exceptional virtuosity and his profound musicality.

His remarkable repertoire, ranging from Baroque to contemporary music, is comprised of the great masterpieces of Monteverdi, Rameau, Purcell, Charpentier, Mozart, Offenbach, Berlioz, Orff, and Rachmaninov. His passion for new music has also brought him to perform works by today’s most important composers, such as Michael Levinas, Hèctor Parra, and Karol Beffa.

Vincent Lièvre-Picard has recently performed at the Paris National Opera, the Paris Châtelet Theatre, the Geneva Opera, the Lille Opera, the Schwetzingen Festival, the Fribourg Sacred Music Festival, the Dresden Frauenkirche, the Utrecht Domkerk, the Lausanne Opera House, and the Bordeaux Opera. He has frequently collaborated with the world’s greatest conductors, such as René Jacobs, William Christie, Michel Corboz, Jean-Claude Malgoire, as well as Raphaël Pichon.

Also passionate about sacred music, he has sung the major masses and oratorios by Vivaldi, Mozart, Haydn, Berlioz, Dvořák and Britten. A specialist of Bach’s repertoire, Vincent Lièvre-Picard’s interpretations and recordings of the Passions and Cantatas have become celebrated models in this field.

Recently, Vincent Lièvre-Picard has participated in a European and Asian tour of Lully’s masterpiece Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, directed by one of the most celebrated French stage directors, Denis Podalydès. 

Despite his young age, Vincent-Lièvre Picard has already taken part in more than thirty albums, many of those being awarded international prizes. After he received a Diapason d’Or award and a Choc de Classica award for several of his latest recordings, he went on to receiving the prestigious Massenet Prize, for the best complete set of French Opera. Recently, he has recorded Beethoven’s Lieder for Warner Classics, as part of the worldwide celebrations of the great German composer’s 250th anniversary.

CHRISTIAN SENN
DAVID GREILSAMMER

Known for his eclectic and fascinating programmes, conductor and pianist David Greilsammer is recognised as one of today’s most audacious and adventurous classical artists. The New York Times has awarded his albums Baroque Conversations and Mozart In-Between as “Recordings of the Year”, in addition to selecting his recital Scarlatti:Cage:Sonatas as one of the ten most important musical events of the year.

Praised as creator of numerous ground-breaking musical projects, ranging from baroque to contemporary music, David Greilsammer has also been celebrated for his Mozart performances. He has performed in Paris all of Mozart’s piano sonatas in a one-day “marathon” and recently, he has played and conducted all of Mozart’s twenty-seven piano concertos, in one season. In the past years, David Greilsammer has released four recordings on the Naïve label, and more recently, three prize-winning albums for Sony Classical.

Since 2013, David Greilsammer serves as Music and Artistic Director of the Geneva Camerata, one of the most daring, bold and innovative orchestras internationally. He has recently performed as guest conductor/soloist with the BBC Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony, La Verdi Orchestra di Milano, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Mexico National Symphony, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony.

He has recently given solo recitals at the Wigmore Hall in London, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Mostly Mozart Festival in New York, Verbier Festival, Forbidden City Theatre in Beijing, Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Venice Biennale, and Kennedy Center in Washington.

David Greilsammer’s latest piano recital, named Labyrinth, has been described by the press as “fascinating and courageous”. This daring solo programme will be released this season on a new album, in addition to being performed on tour throughout the USA, Europe and Asia.
