Diamanda Callas
Diamanda Callas, a gothic, egotistical drag singer, describes herself as a “pop-idiot diva” and a cabaret tragedienne. Diamanda speaks loudly and invents words. A resident performer at the Madame Arthur cabaret in Paris, she brings her jazz-goth timbre and cartoonish glamour to a brand of dark, biting humor. Her lyrical, lugubrious flights reconcile the princess and the witch, while her romantic, faded universe tells the story of spleen - the spleen of Paris.
Spleen is something she knows well. Editor-in-chief of the punk-melancholic magazine Spleen Factory from 2013 to 2020, she explored art and fashion through the lens of melancholy. Spending part of her twenties haunting the streets of Berlin transformed her. Upon returning to Paris, she embraced boredom as an aesthetic and found success organizing techno “boom-boom” parties known as ANGST.
Her entry into the drag scene in 2019 happened away from glitter and glam, rooted instead in a radical, somber aesthetic that quickly stood out. From her early performances in Parisian basements, she has retained a taste for risk, carrying it onto the stages of Madame Arthur, from Paris to New York, where her character continues to evolve.
Her first solo show, presented in 2025 and set to return in 2026, is naturally titled SPLEEN. In it, she sketches a sharp, humorous apocalyptic fresco within an ethereal, often eccentric and moving musical universe. Her musical exploration also extends beyond the stage: she records her own tracks and creates accompanying visuals in dark, faded, sometimes playful music videos.
Always seeking new experiences, she is now flirting with the world of cinema - awkwardly, yet with the disarming confidence of a drag queen in the midst of a teenage crisis.
