Harkiret Singh Bahra
Harkiret Singh Bahra embodies both the sensitivity and energy of an exceptional performer, combining refined technical mastery with great artistic depth. Rooted in the Indian classical repertoire, he draws inspiration from masters such as Giani Gian Singh Surjit, Giani Gurbachan Singh Hamdardh, Ustad Harkirat Singh Rayatt, and the late Guru Acharya Pandit Shankar Ghosh. A regular teacher in Southeast England, he also led a workshop in Punjab last year, demonstrating his commitment to passing on this precious heritage.
His practice, respectful of traditions while showing remarkable versatility, allows him to perform on both national and international stages. In 2024, Harkiret accompanied Jasdeep Singh Degun at the RPS Awards at the RNCM, shared the stage with the Scottish Ensemble and the Liverpool Philharmonic, while also recording with the BBC Philharmonic.
On stage, his emotional playing strikes a subtle balance between harmony and rhythm, touching the hearts of his audience. Notably, he gave two concerts in Turin alongside the Mohan Brothers, engaged in numerous collaborations across England, and took part in the recording of Jasdeep Singh Degun’s latest EP, Lament.
Harkiret Singh Bahra thus continues a journey that blends tradition and innovation, offering music that is both deeply rooted in its origins and resolutely forward-looking.
