Zacharie Ksyk
Zacharie Ksyk is a Franco-Swiss trumpeter and composer born in 1991. Trained in both classical and jazz music, he obtained his Diplôme d’Études Musicales at the Conservatoire of Reims at the age of 17, before pursuing a Master’s degree in jazz at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU) under the guidance of Matthieu Michel.
Exposed to the stage from an early age, he joined the Big Band des Jeunes of the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood at 12. At the early age of 16, he took part in a project presented for the 20th anniversary of the Eurockéennes de Belfort, marking his first appearances on major contemporary music stages.
An active musician on the international scene, he collaborates with artists from diverse musical backgrounds such as Erik Truffaz, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Jowee Omicil, Chinese Man, Oxmo Puccino, Olivia Ruiz, Ebony Bones, Earl Sixteen, Capleton, Sizzla, Noumoucounda Cissoko, as well as Bastian Baker.
He is involved in several major projects on today’s scene, including the Louis Matute Large Ensemble, Evita Koné’s project, Captains of the Imagination, Léon Phal, and Kadebostany. He is also co-founder of mohs., a renowned Swiss quartet
Through these collaborations and projects, Zacharie Ksyk has developed an open musical identity at the crossroads of contemporary jazz and modern music.
