Zoë Conway

Celtic violin and vocals

Celebrated as one of the most important Irish artists of our time, Zoë Conway brings the musical traditions of her country to life across the world. Originally from the classical music sphere, she quickly became one of the leading stars of Celtic folk violin, performing at prestigious international venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Kings Place in London, the Kremlin in Moscow, and the National Concert Hall in Dublin.

Zoë Conway is today one of the few artists in the Celtic folk music domain invited to perform with renowned symphony orchestras. Recently, she has appeared as a soloist with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia in Spain, Il Giardino Armonico in Italy, the Ulster Orchestra in England, the Irish Chamber Orchestra in Ireland, and the WDR Sinfonieorchester in Germany.

Zoë Conway has opened concerts for several living legends in rock, folk, and world music, such as Nick Cave, Lou Reed, and Rodrigo y Gabriela. She regularly performs with guitarist John McIntyre. In demand worldwide, the duo has been described by the BBC as "one of the best folk duos on the planet." Zoë Conway tours extensively with leading artists in Celtic and Gaelic music, including Scottish singer Julie Fowlis, Irish accordionist Máirtín O’Connor, and the British groups Flook and Altan.

An exceptional improviser and composer, Zoë Conway has written numerous pieces for theater, television, and film. As a violinist and composer, she has contributed to the soundtracks of the Disney film Artemis Fowl, the Universal animated feature Riverdance, as well as the films Float Like a Butterfly and Finding You.

In recent years, she has released two albums through which she has established herself as one of the most authentic and fascinating voices of traditional Nordic music. About her latest recording, The Irish Times wrote: “Zoë Conway is a rising genius.”
