Grichka
Grichka
As a child, Grichka impressed those around him with his exceptional talent as a dancer. Spotted by several choreographers and performers, he trained from a very young age in a wide range of styles, from classical ballet to African dances, as well as hip-hop and contemporary dance. At only eleven years old, he discovered urban dance through choreographers Kader Attou and Dominique Lisette, and soon joined choreographic productions with major companies such as Black Blanc Beur, Accrorap, and Révolution.
In 2005, after watching the documentary RIZE by David LaChapelle, he discovered the dance of his choice: Krump, which allowed him to energetically express his personality, his mixed heritage, and his spirituality. Very quickly, he decided to return to the roots of the movement and, in 2006, traveled to where it all began - the ghettos of Los Angeles. In 2008, he joined the NY Madness Fam in the United States, earning recognition as a pioneer and key initiator of the krump movement in Europe. Grichka has competed in numerous battles and won the EBS World Krump Championship twice.
As an international krumper and hip-hop teacher, he decided to immerse himself in contemporary choreography and stage direction, creating a new piece entitled Birth (2019). In 2021, he was invited by TanzKomplizen Theater and the Offensive Association in Germany to choreograph A Human Race, a work exploring structural racism, set to Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring.
Since 2022, he has been invited to participate in numerous international opening ceremonies. That same year, he premiered Alpha Krump, an educational stage show retracing the history, codes, and foundations of krump in an engaging and accessible format. In 2024, he completed his latest choreographic piece, Sur Le Fil, featuring five female performers, and is currently preparing new projects.
