Melissa

Hip hop and krump dance

A dancer from a very young age, Melissa trained in jazz dance as well as rhythmic gymnastics. At 13, she discovered hip-hop (standing styles) Afid Zekhnini, her teacher in northern France, and joined the company Avalanch, performing on various European stages. In 2006, she moved to Paris to continue her career, appearing in music videos and television shows.

In 2008, Melissa turned to the krump movement, where she found a new energy, more aligned with her values and personal expression. She began training and competing in international sessions and battles. Within her collective Madrootz—bringing together French and international krump pioneers - she returned to the stage in krump shows and co-organized the annual International Illest Battle 100% Krump, held at La Villette (Paris) since 2013.

Melissa continues to push the choreographic dimension of krump through video concepts and artistic creations such as Birth, choreographed by Grichka Caruge in 2021, as well as i and the latest creation Sur le Fil. She also serves as Grichka Caruge’s assistant on various international event projects.
